About the Role: Be part of an exciting new service that works collaboratively to support children and young people outside of business hours. The After-Hours Service is a new service designed to deliver services to build safety where risk is present, provide help and support to resolve issues and/or prevent escalation, and be responsive to the needs of our children and young people in care, outside of standard business hours. After Hours Service Applicant Information Duties Include: Provide information, advice and support to all incoming, emergent, and critical after-hours service enquiries in a child-centred, trauma-informed manner. Salary: $73,834 to $111,364 pro rata per annum + 11.5% Superannuation

Classification: Allied Health Professional Level 1-2

Award/Agreement: Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement

Location: South (Hobart), (North (Launceston) and North-West (Ulverstone)

Hours of Work: This is a shift-based role and includes a combination of day, afternoon and night work, including availability for call-out as rostered.

If successful, you must be available to complete approximately 3 months of full-time (Mon-Fri 8:30am -5pm) paid training.

Who we’re looking for Our new After-Hours Service gives children and young people 24/7 safety and wellbeing support. No two days look the same. Work is diverse and rewarding, and really makes a positive difference to Tasmanian children and young people.

You will need to: have a genuine motivation and passion to work with children, young people, and their families, strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to change your communication style, remain calm, de-escalate, and manage conflicts ability to quickly build rapport and relationships with stakeholders (including families and young people) over the phone and in person value working as a member of a team and contributing to a positive team environment commitment to self-care, continuous improvement, learning and practice reflection individual resilience, emotional intelligence, and the ability to self-reflect personal integrity, accountability, and respect for clients

Essential Requirements: A tertiary qualification approved by the relevant National Board, for example a Bachelor of Social Work, and eligibility for membership with the relevant National Board or professional association; or An alternative tertiary qualification (AQF Level 7 Qualification) in a discipline considered relevant to the duties, for example Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Psychology, Bachelor of Youth Work, Bachelor of Psychological Science; or An associate degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (AQF Level 5 or 6 Qualification) in a discipline considered relevant to the duties, for example a Diploma in Community Services. Current Driver's Licence.

The Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Act 2013 requires persons undertaking work in a regulated activity to be registered. A regulated activity is a child related service or activity defined in the Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Regulations 2014. This registration must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of this may be checked at any time during employment.

Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status - Employment).

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

1.  Conviction checks in the following areas: crimes of violence, sex related offences, serious drug offences, crimes involving dishonesty, serious traffic offences.

2.  Identification check

3.  Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
