Software Data Migration Specialist - Progress or 4GL languages, Location, Other, Johannesburg. Software Data Migration Specialist - Progress or 4GL languages: - life insurance / Gauteng/ JHB/Pretoria. Converting and migrating Life Insurance data from external systems into the system.

Qualifications: Appropriate / aligned IT Qualification and/or years of associated development experience. General knowledge of the Life insurance industry. Experience in Progess OpenEdge and/or other relational databases. 3 years relevant experience in data migration / integration. Excellent organisational skills. Strong attention to detail - detail orientated. Work independently & with minimal direction. Self-motivated and self-driven. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Produce solutions of a high quality.

Strong communicator - with clients & within the team, in English & Afrikaans. Converting and migrating Life Insurance data from external systems into the system.  Based on the scope of the conversion, determine the actions & minimum data requirements applicable to the migration. Assist with the designing & planning of the data migration process – this would include the following 3 main areas: Extract, Transform, Load. Work closely with the Technical Architects & software development teams especially with regards to d/b table changes & current system functionality enhancements or changes that might have an impact on the migration. Preparing & updating migration table layouts and mapping requirements applicable. Client specific migration and conversion code development / modifications / enhancements.

Development of pre-and-post migration data checks & reporting. Data conversion (transformation of data) from source to target system during the migration process. Define & update the migration plan & migration process log to minimise the risks during the migration process. Review the existing migration process / tools for possible performance improvements. Client interaction as and when required. Work with data owners to verify and obtain approval on the converted / migrated data Providing relevant migration documentation Excellent interpersonal skills  Takes pride in work/product delivered Must be able to work under pressure as well as afterhours / weird hours during a go-live etc. R35 000- R45 000 neg. Gross per month.
