Consultant Pediatrician. Employer: NHS Tayside. Location: Tayside. Closing date: 26 May 2025. Pediatric Consultant in Community Child Health. 1 WTE. Full-time/part-time—up to 40 hrs/week.
We have an exciting opportunity available in one of the UK’s most up-and-coming, vibrant cities.
NHS Tayside seeks to appoint a pediatric consultant with an interest in community pediatrics.
Following retirements and vacant sessions within the service, this post has been created with a view to the continuing development and improvement of existing services.
An interest in neurodevelopmental assessment and the Care Experienced Children and Young People’s Service (CECYPS) would be required. There may also be the opportunity for an interested candidate to work with the child protection team, including on-call. NHS Tayside is supportive of continuous professional development, and all of our posts include 2 PAs for supporting professional activities (pro rata).
The successful applicant is likely to be based in Dundee with the expectation that some sessions may be based throughout Tayside, depending on their interest. Existing team members live across the area, and a number work between localities.
You will be joining a supportive, forward-thinking team with a broad range of experience and well-established links with the acute service and other agencies. We have regular team meetings and joint
training both within the wider CCH team and across specialties with our neonatal and general pediatric colleagues. We welcome applications from doctors wishing to work less than full-time and those wishing to pursue further training to develop a specialist interest. Interested candidates are encouraged to contact us for an informal discussion. NHS Tayside serves a population of 416,090 across three local authorities: Dundee, Perth and Kinross, and Angus. Pediatrics serves a population of approximately 67,100 children under 16 across Tayside.
Tayside Paediatric Department participates in several regional and national managed clinical networks, facilitating the maintenance of specialist interests for all senior medical and career-grade staff.
Tayside's pediatric department is committed to teaching undergraduates from Dundee. Trainees undertaking their paediatric training in the East of Scotland region are based in Dundee and rotate to
Forth Valley and Edinburgh.
Applicants should have full UK GMC registration and a license to practice, membership of the RCPCH, and registration with the GMC. If you have appropriate specialist training and experience but are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register, you will be considered for a locum consultant post (up to 12 months). A full UK driver's license will also be required.
Informal enquiries can be made to Dr Jenny Fraser, Clinical Lead for Community Child Health,
Dr Joanna Chisholm, Consultant Paediatrician,
Dr. Helen Dunne, Clinical Care Group.
