Safety Advisor, Abergeldie Complex Infrastructure. Auburn, Sydney NSW. Health, Safety & Environment (Construction). Contract/Temp. Add expected salary to your profile for insights.

About us: Abergeldie is a locally owned contractor with 30 years of industry experience in Australia and New Zealand. We design and deliver projects in the water, bridges, transport, underground, energy, and remediation industry sectors. The complex infrastructure needed to build better communities.

About the Safety team: At Abergeldie, we’re flipping the switch on traditional safety and continuing to bring “safety differently” to life in our projects. Our safety strategy is well underway, and we’re focused on shaping and delivering what the future of safety looks like at Abergeldie.

We’re looking for passionate, driven individuals ready to embrace a new challenge. You’ll need to be open to rethinking old approaches, adapting behaviours, and empowering our workers to take ownership of safety—all while supporting our leaders and driving continuous improvement.

About the project: Abergeldie is one of two construction partners selected by WaterNSW to deliver their Asset, Renewals, and Replacement Program (ARRP). Under the ARRP, Abergeldie is delivering multi-disciplinary packages varying in size and complexity, spread across a large geographical footprint in NSW. The scope is vast and includes, but is not limited to, civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical minor capital works and rehabilitation.

About the opportunity: We are seeking an experienced HSE Advisor to join our team, supporting the ARRP program. This role will involve working across various regional projects in NSW, including locations such as Riverina and Broken Hill. While the primary focus will be on regional sites, there may be occasions where support is required for projects in the Sydney area.

This is a 12-month contract, with the potential for extension or ongoing permanent work. We will tailor travel arrangements, such as DIDO or FIFO, to suit the needs of the successful candidate and the project. Please note that this role involves working across multiple locations rather than being based on a single site.

Your key responsibilities will include providing expert HSE advice and practical solutions to delivery teams across regional NSW. Supporting the implementation and maintenance of safety processes and systems to ensure compliance. Conducting site inspections, assisting with risk assessments, and addressing safety concerns proactively. Contributing to the development of a proactive safety culture by supporting and mentoring team members to strengthen their safety practices.

What you’ll bring to the team: Extensive experience as a senior HSE advisor, with significant on-site experience within the construction industry. Experience working on water infrastructure projects (highly desirable). Diploma in Work Health and Safety (or higher). Construction Induction White Card. C Class Driver’s License. Proficiency in WH&S system management. Membership and/or certification with a relevant professional body (desirable). A passion for driving safety excellence and fostering a proactive safety culture.
