The Position: This position is responsible for building a strong brand perception through developing and maintaining relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders. The role is a primary contact point for traditional, new, and emerging media agencies and focuses on delivering impactful, timely, and engaging communications content.

Qualifications and experience: tertiary qualification in communications/marketing, journalism, or public relations or equivalent relevant work experience. Class C (standard) Driver's Licence (compulsory to have and maintain). Experience corporate communications, journalism, public relations, media, digital communications, or marketing. Local Government experience is highly desirable. A strong track record in developing and implementing media and public relations plans.

Tasks and responsibilities: Develop and maintain strong relationships in a highly political environment with a broad range of stakeholders, including other levels of government, to deliver quality communications content. In collaboration with the team leader, communications and engagement provide advice to the CEO, executive team, and councillors on media-related issues. Represent the Communications and Engagement Team and its’ many functions within the organisation under a business partnering model.

Day-to-day media management includes assessing and preparing responses for reactive media requests, proactive media opportunities, and editing outgoing media, digital, social media, and editorial communications items. Take responsibility for the crafting, development, writing, editing, proofreading, sourcing of quotes, production, and budgeting of relevant pieces of collateral for a variety of audiences, as required as part of communication campaigns, web content, and strategies.

Hours Based on a 35-hour week, with actual days and times being Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm, with an RDO in accordance with AlburyCity’s RDO guidelines.
