“Stronger Together” is a department of Strong Communities that has a focus on supporting culturally diverse communities in the Gladstone Region. We deliver programs, activities and events for the Gladstone Region’s culturally diverse communities and those who support them. Our mission is to empower children, families and all communities through activities that have a positive impact, and prevent social disadvantage. Strong Communities Ltd is responsible for a number of programs around Central Queensland, including Parenting and Family supporting activities, Nurture and Nutrition (NaN) supported playgroups, the Stronger Together project for multicultural communities, storytelling activities such as the SC's Podcasts and Humans of Gladstone Region social media initiative, the Calliope Community Hub and more.
The Role: We are seeking a Project Officer in our Stronger Together Department for a 12-month contract, covering maternity leave for 25 hours per week (5 days per week- 5 hours per day). Reporting to the General Manager, the project officer role will efficiently coordinate all planning, administrative, logistic, and delivery of the programs and activities for the multicultural department ‘Stronger Together’ at Strong Communities. On a part-time basis, located in Gladstone.
Key responsibilities: Plan, deliver, review and report on activities for our Stronger Together Department. Provide administrative support, including direct queries from clients in relation to Stronger Together activities. Develop and maintain relationships with other organisations and stakeholders. Maintain records of all activities relating to the Stronger Together department. Record keeping to assist in completing grant acquittals and reporting requirements to high standards and within agreed timeframes. Organise events or workshops using high standards of event planning. Conduct the Stronger Together communication strategies including, but not limited to, newsletters, websites and print and social media, with support. Ensure that Stronger Together operations work efficiently, complementary, and compliant with the other staff and the organisation’s policies and procedures. Represent the organisation at events and activities. Identify and progress relevant partnerships with community groups, business, government, and industry. Develop and maintain relationships with the culturally and linguistically (CALD) community of the places in which we work. Monitor and advocate for the needs of the culturally and linguistically (CALD) community of the places in which we work.

Desirable qualifications and experience: Minimum of 5 years previous experience in a community-based role. Must be competent in prioritising and working with little supervision, be self-motivated, loyal and trustworthy. Demonstrated ability to work with people from different socio economic and cultural backgrounds. Excellent knowledge of office technology including Microsoft office and other relevant application. Very good understanding of marketing concepts, including social media applications, and ability to use (and learn) graphic design tools. Understanding of and a commitment to the philosophy of Strong Communities Ltd and an ability to work in accordance with policies and procedures to promote the value and mission of the organisation. Previous experience supporting culturally and linguistically communities. Experience dealing with a range of stakeholders including community groups, business, government, and industry.
Excellent use of language, verbal and written. Multilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.
