Wollongong Homeless Hub and Housing services based in the Northern and Southern Illawarra regions, is one of the longest established Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS) and Community Housing Providers (CHP) in the Illawarra delivering a broad range of support services to people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. With 40 years' experience in delivering responsive services to people in local communities, Wollongong Homeless Hub and Housing services provides both strategically targeted and holistic programs for people of all ages, including families.
These programs incorporate the following: Short term supported crisis accommodation. Specialist Homeless Service (SHS). Social Housing. Outreach services. Transitional housing. The Glider Project, early intervention for tenancies at risk.

Current Opportunities: We are seeking a new Hub Coordinator. Five days week (70 hours fortnight) Monday – Friday, 8:30am and 4pm. Under the guidance of the Support Services Manager, the Hub Coordinator will provide brief interventions to clients and ensure that all services are accessible to clients in a timely, inclusive, and equitable manner. The role is responsible for providing client support services, coordinate the daily running of the hub and provide support and guidance to other staff.
The Hub Coordinator will: Conduct intake and provide support to brief intervention clients. Undertaking advocacy on behalf of clients with a range of external service providers. Work using a trauma informed model towards achieving client led housing outcomes. Ensuring that communication with clients is appropriate, non-judgmental and professional, and takes into account clients’ personal circumstances. Build and maintain relationships with external service providers and referral agencies. Implementing processes and systems to provide best practice support for clients. Undertake and continually review risk assessments with a view to safety of both staff and client. Ensuring that client records and notes are captured, accurate and kept up to date. Ensure active use of By Name List. Work collaboratively with other WHHHS programs to allow smooth transition through internal pathways. Reporting incidents, near misses and hazards and suggesting appropriate corrective or preventative actions. Monitor site supplies and communicate site needs with appropriate WHHHS staff. Manage brokerage resources. Facilitate and document monthly team meeting. Provide guidance to support and cleaning staff. Provide oversight of volunteers.
Share responsibility of conducting supervision sessions for staff in the drop in hub
Skills and Experience Requirement Minimums
Qualifications: Diploma in Community Services, bachelor's degree in social work, psychology or other relevant discipline. Experience building rapport with clients in a community setting. Minimum of 3 years demonstrable experience within housing and homelessness (or related role). Demonstrated ability to plan and work independently. An informed understanding of working with people from diverse backgrounds including First Nations people and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. High level competency with Microsoft Office, and other Case Management software. WWCC and clear criminal record. Experience conducting appropriate risk assessments and safety planning. The ability to lead and mentor other staff.
