Kayop Australia is currently recruiting an Operations Manager to oversee its emerging operations in Brisbane. This is an exciting opportunity for an eager, energetic and experienced individual to join a start-up business with strong client base in Australia's closest neighbor, Papua New Guinea. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of Kayop Australia office at Narangba, north of Brisbane CBD. The role also will include managing the relationships between existing clients and vendors in both Australia and Papua New Guinea and the identification of new market base in Australia is a major part of this role. Further responsibilities are identified below.
Job Requirements: Tertiary Engineering qualification or relevant trade qualifications and experience. 5+ years post-qualification experience working. Demonstrated experience with Heavy Mining Equipment & concentrator/processing plant. Advanced Microsoft Office Suite Skills (Word, Excel, Project, etc). Xero experience would be highly desirable. Ability to multitask and work on various projects. Excellent verbal & written communication skills. Occasional travel overseas (PNG) will be required. Experience working overseas (PNG, Pacific Islands). Previous working experience in Ok Tedi Mine in PNG is highly advantageous but not necessary. Working knowledge of small to mid-level contracting business is essential.
Job Responsibilities: Coordinating the implementation of Kayop Australia Occupational Health and Safety requirements. Manage the interface between Key Clients and their intended services.
Planning details of operational activities in terms of output quality and quantity, cost, time available and labour requirements. Identify potential business opportunities within Australia and Papua New Guinea. Controlling the operation of production plant and quality procedures through planning of maintenance, designation of operating hours and supply of parts and tools. Co-ordinate staff development and human resources. Ensuring that Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are monitored and achieved. Supervision and direction of operators, technical staff, contract and administration staff.
Determining, implementing and monitoring operational strategies, policies and plans. Informing other Stakeholders about operations matters. Maintain accurate records of daily operational activities.
Responsible for implementation of the Quality Assurance and Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety Systems. Convene Weekly Operations Management meetings. Controlling the preparation of operational records and monthly reports. Monitoring business output and costs and adjusting processes and resources to minimise costs. Ensure timely monthly consolidation of transactions in Xero Accounting System and review of financial performance. Manage special projects by delegation to operations or technical staff. Involvement in other operations of Kayop Investment Limited (KIL) as required.
