Coordinator Children’s Services, Darebin City Council, Preston, Melbourne VIC. Management (Community Services & Development). Government - Local (Government & Defense). Full time. Band 8: $126,682 per annum + superannuation. The Coordinator Childrens Services is a senior leadership position and will be responsible for the effective leadership, management and operation of sector-leading early services to the Darebin community; with a focus on engaging with children, their families and communities experiencing the greatest disadvantage, who are at risk, and/or who experience barriers to participation.

About the Role: This position works in a complex environment with a diverse community, range of services and organisations and is integral in supporting the implementation of Council, State and Federal Government strategy, policy reform and initiatives.

Provide leadership, support and direction in the implementation of a range of early years community-based services

Skills & Experience: Degree or Diploma qualification in Childrens Services, Social Work, Community Services (or related discipline) or lesser formal qualifications with extensive and diverse experience (4 years’ +), A postgraduate Degree is highly regarded

Relevant experience in the field, coordinating and evaluating programs and services, including staff development and service development.

Recruit, lead, support, supervise and mentor staff in the provision of sector-leading quality services and partnership initiatives to the Darebin community. Provide advice and support the development of strategies that address Council's response to new and emerging community issues.

Provide leadership, support and direction in the implementation of a range of early years community-based services

Ability to understand and input into the long-term goals of the Childrens Services Unit and to develop and implement policies and procedures of the unit and the wider organisation.

Demonstrated ability to effectively consult and form partnerships with a diverse stakeholder base with capability to positively manage potentially contentious issues and reach collaborative outcomes.

Provide advice and support the development of strategies that address Council's response to new and emerging community issues.
