Skill Requirements:
Education: Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): 2nd Period Apprentice, Driver's License
Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years
Major Work Area: Maintenance, Repair, Service
Type of Establishment/Work Setting Experience: Residential
Area of Specialization: Gas leak detection, Connections of piping, ranges, dryers, barbecues and other appliances, Connections of furnaces, boilers, space heaters and forced air heaters
Specific Skills: Determine layout of systems, Maintain and service heating units and components, Repair and service gas appliances, Educate clients about safety and maintenance of gas units, Start-up and adjust new or repaired equipment
Additional Skills: Estimate labour and material costs, Instruct apprentices
Security and Safety: Drug test, Driver's validity license check
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Tight deadlines, Physically demanding, Attention to detail, Bending, crouching, kneeling
Work Site Environment: Dangerous
