About Us: ADF Health Services provides integrated healthcare services to Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel across Australia.  As part of this contract, Serco, in partnership with Bupa, provide defence-ready clinical and support staff across 50+ on-base locations nationally, ensuring that ADF personnel have access to quality on-site medical care.

About the Role: In this role, you will work as a part of a multidisciplinary team within a health centre setting, supporting the diverse mental health needs of military members.  Referrals will come from a variety of sources, including the member, medical team, and command, offering diversity in presentations and support requests. The support you will offer begins with an initial intake and assessment with flexibility to accommodate the present need. There is scope for the use of psychometrics and engagement in treatment that capitalises on your skills, interests, and scope of practice. You will have autonomy to manage your caseload, including oversight and case management of externally referred cases and the provision of internal treatment to Defense members. Additionally, your management of crisis presentations, risk assessment, and risk management planning is supported by a multi-disciplinary team.

To be successful in this role, you will have: The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour. Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Minimum 2 years postgraduate experience in the last 5 years in mental health in a primary health or specialist mental health setting, undertaking comprehensive mental health assessments, and delivering a range of evidence-based 'Focussed Psychological Strategies' as defined under the Medicare Schedule.

Recent participation in continuous professional development (CPD) activities in accordance with AHPRA. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification. Knowledge of relevant state and territory policies and procedures and national standards governing mental health practice is desirable. Knowledge of the ADF Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2018–2023 is desirable.

About Holsworthy: Holsworthy Health Centre is located 25 kilometres south-west of central Sydney. Located on a 20,000-hectare base, it comprises a 41-bed inpatient ward that operates 24/7 and includes outpatients.  Services provided include primary medical, nursing, dental, mental health, pharmaceutical, and physiotherapy. Holsworthy Base is also home to the Defense Force Correctional Establishment, where detainees are visited by RNs daily.  Standard hours of operation are generally 0730–1530 Monday–Friday (depending on role requirements and specific craft groups required for weekend shifts).
