Our company is a well-known and well-established container storage and transport entity with depots in both Cape Town and Durban. Our company functions nationally as a storage and repairs facility for containers, both empty and full.
Our company has a vacant position for an Operations Manager who will be responsible for the successful functioning of all operations of the Cape Town Depot. The successful candidate will function at a senior level and report directly to the Depot Manager.
Overview of the role: The Operations Manager is responsible for the efficient and cost-effective functioning of all the departments within the Operations Department of the Company. What the Operations Manager will do: (Including, but not limited). Oversee and manage the functioning of the respective departments under his/her leadership which include amongst other: Estimation, Tracking, Yard Operations, Workshop, Washbays, Stores, Reefer Department.
The Operations Manager will also be responsible for budgeting, expenditure management, customer liaison and relations, repairs and maintenance of all machines and equipment.
What you will need to have Required Skills and Competencies: Previous management experience in the container storage industry; Strong interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills; Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment; Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with customers and staff at all organizational levels. Experience in refrigerated containers. Planning and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with software applications / Computer literacy; Proven knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety rules strongly recommended;
Education and Experience: Technical Qualification (T6) or Tertiary Qualification in Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related field preferred (relevant experience can be substituted for the required education on the basis of 3 – 5 years’ relevant and proven experience); Relevant work experience within Operations, Logistics, Transport, Warehouse Management, or Dispatch required; Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel, MS Word, and Industry related software (logistics). 3 – 5 years of experience in Financial management practices and principles at Managerial level which includes interpretation and analysis of financial reports and proven experience running profit and loss divisions/companies.
