Summer Camp Counselor

Location: Armstrong, BC
Job Summary: To assist with the organization, implementation and evaluation of environmental education and outdoor recreation opportunities for children and youth in a residential camp setting.
Position / Duties Description:
    Deliver “hands-on” Environmental Education and Outdoor Recreation activities that fosters a Childs respect for their natural surroundings
    Effectively manage participant and group behaviour
    Ensure quality leadership, guidance and supervision
    Conduct self as a positive and appropriate role model
    Carry out policies and procedures to ensure the safety of all participants
    Plan and facilitate weeklong outdoor recreational and education programs
    Enthusiastically lead kids in climbing, hiking, canoeing, to play all types of team sports, mountain boarding, BMXing, to archery, make crafts, camping, and take them swimming
    Tell stories, sing songs and play games at the drop of a hat
Qualifications / Experience Required:
    Interest and aptitude in residential camping, outdoor recreation and environmental education
    Experience planning and facilitating outdoor recreation programs
    Demonstrated ability in behaviour management with children and youth
    Excellent organization and communication skills
    Successful completion Agency screening process, including a cleared criminal record check
    Must be over 18 years of age
Assets:   Experience working in a residential camp environment, Class 4 driver’s license, 1st aid/ CPR, NLS Certification, canoeing certification, archery experience, belay experience or the ability to obtain certifications.
Salary: $82.00/day
Hours: Full time/Live-in required - June 16, 2014 - August 29, 2014
