Consumer Campaigner, Employer: Solar Citizens, Work Type/s: Contract, Full Time, Classification/s: Advocacy & Campaigns, Communications & Marketing, Environment & Sustainability, Green Energy, Sector/s: Not For Profit (NFP), Location: Sydney
Solar Citizens is an independent community organisation bringing together millions of solar owners and supporters to protect and grow solar in Australia. Working with local communities around the country, we run campaigns that ensure the solar revolution in Australia continues unhindered.
We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and motivated person who has the initiative and drive to spark campaigns that will win for more than 1.4 million solar households across Australia.
Solar owners face multiple challenges to their investment, from threats to feed-in-tariffs, discriminatory fees and other barriers. Regulation is difficult for the consumer to decipher and the rules that regulate the electricity market are not designed to cope with the monumental shift to decentralised electricity generation that has come with the dramatic rise in rooftop solar PV.
This full-time position reports to the Director, Campaigns and Organising. The successful applicant will take the lead from Solar Citizens supporters, the solar industry and other stakeholders to identify pressing problems and deliver high-impact campaigns that engage the community to protect the rights of solar owners and enhance Australia’s transition to a clean energy nation. If you thrive on campaigning and love nothing more than chasing down wins – both big and small – this could be the job for you.
Renewable energy is high on the national agenda and 2015 is shaping up to be a hard-fought year for solar in Australia. With rapidly shifting strategic needs and strong community interest and engagement, this role is an ideal opportunity to make a lasting contribution to Australia's renewable energy future.
