Job Description
Professional Electrical Design Engineer (Building Systems)
We need an additional excellent Professional Electrical Design Engineer. We are looking for someone with strong knowledge of lighting systems, building electrical systems, energy and utilities and a commitment to sustainable design. You need good communication skills to interface with clients, contractors, colleagues and other stakeholders. You have strong professional competencies and interpersonal skills to provide excellent client service. Experience in energy management is an asset.
1. Responsibilities Include:
• conduct engineering evaluations, analysis, designs and implementation in the area of electrical systems in the multi-residential, commercial, institutional, or light industrial building sectors
• complete electrical designs, including power distribution, lighting (indoor and outdoor), emergency lighting, electrical heating, controls, fire alarm, and voice/data communications systems
• prepare electrical single line drawings, panel schedules, details, etc.
• coordinate with other design disciplines
• prepare tender packages for procurement of equipment and installation
• review shop drawings
• complete field reviews during construction, prepare site instructions, and prepare field review reports
• interface with the client, building owner, architect, contractors, consultants, utilities, and building authorities
2. Qualifications:
• B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering
• licensed P. Eng. - registered with PEGNL or eligibility thereof
• 5 years of electrical engineering design experience
• experience in consulting engineering in the multi- residential, commercial, institutional, or light industrial building sectors
• comprehensive knowledge of the National Building Codes, Canadian Electrical Code, ASHRAE, and other applicable codes and standards
• computer literacy
• good knowledge and experience with AutoCAD and Revit
• experience in site investigation and construction reviews
• working knowledge of loading calculation, voltage drop, fault and lighting calculations
• working knowledge of protection and coordination study and design issues
• proficient verbal and written communication skills
• ability to work with clients, building operators, building users, consulting engineers, project managers, contractors, and product suppliers in a professional manner
