Jay’s Gardening Services Pty Ltd is a garden maintenance business that services the Eastern and North Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne (generally between Park Orchards to Eltham and Lilydale to Ringwood areas). We provide a wide range of services with our primary focus on garden maintenance on acre-plus-sized properties, although occasionally we do some soft-scaping jobs.

We are looking for someone to join our friendly team (currently 4) and work approx. 3-5 days per week depending on workload/weather/personal commitments. We are looking for a long-term suitor, and the rate of pay will reflect the level of experience. The role will be on a casual contract, but if the right candidate demonstrates all of the desired qualities for the role, this can be negotiated to something more permanent at a later stage. The right candidate will also need to be open to working longer days (not every day of the week) during peak times (Oct-Dec & Feb-Mar) and to working the occasional weekend. The job is physical, so a certain level of fitness is required. The hours aren't set and change constantly depending on weather and job demands.

Ideally the right person will possess the following qualities (but not limited to): attention to detail is very important, hard working, willing to learn, punctual, can work in a team environment and autonomously, great communicator, and takes initiative. Experience doesn’t necessarily need to be employed experience. Experience around your own family garden or similar is suitable; just go into detail in the cover letter.

Police & Working with Children’s checks: Knows how to operate machinery such as lawn mowers, whipper snippers, pruners, etc. Have a suitable car such as a ute or wagon to transport and store tools. Having your own tools will be looked favorably upon, or at least having some basic hand tools and PPE.

Some of the jobs that are involved in the work are mowing, whipper snipping, using a blower, pruning using hand tools and motorized tools, weeding, raking leaves, spray weeding, moving mulch, soil, & stones, planting, and turf laying, and more.
