Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Engineering Design Manager to lead a team of mechanical, electrical, and electronics engineers working on the development of Proa’s suite of hardware products. This role is crucial in driving product development from concept to production, ensuring technical excellence, and maintaining efficient design processes. The role will involve close collaboration with Proa’s executive team, as well as the operations, manufacturing, and sales teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Management: Oversee and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers, fostering innovation and collaboration.

Product Development: Drive the design and development of Proa’s MetCube and other hardware products, ensuring they meet performance, quality, and regulatory standards.

Manufacturing Support: Assist the manufacturing team with design and process improvements to enhance manufacturability and support the production of new products.

Operations Collaboration: Partner with operations teams to establish and optimize strategies for monitoring, operating, and maintaining a large network of weather stations in remote locations.

Technical Oversight: Provide expert guidance in mechanical, electrical, and electronic design, ensuring system integration and optimization.

Process & Quality Control: Establish and refine engineering workflows to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with manufacturing, software, and product teams to align design efforts with business and customer needs.

Risk Management: Identify technical risks early in the development process and implement mitigation strategies.

Skills & Experience Essential: A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronics, Electronics, or a related field.

Proven experience leading engineering teams in a hardware product development environment.

Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronics engineering principles and their integration. Experience with CAD tools, PCB design software, and simulation tools. Ability to drive design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for reliability (DFR) best practices. Excellent project management skills with a track record of delivering complex engineering projects.

Desirable: Experience in IoT, embedded systems, or industrial hardware products. Familiarity with regulatory compliance and certification processes. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in an agile environment.
