About the role: Library assistants are the public face of UCL Library Services, providing first-line support for inquiries, learning spaces, and technology. Working as part of a team, you will work at service points and throughout library-managed learning spaces, depending on service requirements. You will offer excellent customer service both from Help Points and while roving throughout libraries and library-managed learning spaces. You may be required to work in any library should the need arise.

Be proactive and supportive of your own development and support those around you with a positive and friendly approach. Attend one-to-one meetings with direction from the supervisor. As the role holds responsibilities for the library sites and all the people it supports, it is expected that the post holder will respond to a varying range of emergency situations and be able to act when called upon. Please note that the post involves some manual handling of trolleys and moving and lifting of heavy books.

This is an on-campus role. It is not suitable for regular remote working.

About you: We are looking for candidates who in particular have the following experience and skills: Can respond to complex and pressured inquiries and are able to find positive solutions by using initiative and strong problem-solving abilities, particularly during time-sensitive situations. Have good technical comprehension of software systems and solutions and are able to support their continuous development. Specifically, a good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications.

Weekly Working Pattern: Part-time, 10 hours per week (0.27 FTE). Friday: 17:00 - 21:00. Saturday: 11:00 - 18:00 unpaid, 1 hour lunch break.
