Warehouse, Distribution Center Clerk, The Acadia Shops. Location: Bar Harbor, Maine. Wages/Pay: $18.50 - $19.50 / hour. Experience Level: No experience required. Job Starts: April 1, 2025.
The Acadia Shops of Bar Harbor have been around for 90 years, helping visitors and staff from all over enjoy Acadia National Park by making and bringing memories home with them. All merchandise sold in our retail outlets is first delivered to the Distribution Center (DC). Do you want to be part of the behind-the-scenes team whose job will be to assist/manage the receiving, processing, and delivery of these goods? We're looking for people who want to do all or part of the tasks in our DC, such as processing, picking refurbishments, or delivering the merchandise to the shops. We're located in Bar Harbor, Maine, and our distribution center is about 15 minutes outside of town; self-transportation is required. We are looking for someone to start ASAP and stay through the end of our season in October. I'd love to speak with you more about this position.
There are three major aspects of our work: Receiving and Processing & Replenishment and Delivery
INBOUND: Receiving/Processing merchandise.
We receive merchandise from three types of carriers. The procedures below apply to all.
UPS & Fedex Ground: The bulk of our merchandise, 20-100 packages per day. BSP, Con-Way, Ross Express, and others Large orders on pallets. All merchandise will be unpacked, counted, tagged with a price, and either set aside to be delivered to the shops or kept on shelves at the warehouse until the shop needs replenishment.
OUTBOUND: Replenishment.
Using our point-of-sale software, a report is generated for each of the 8 shops on a daily basis. The report is in order of the merchandise in the distribution center, which is then picked, put into gray totes, and organized by shop. Toward the end of the day, the delivery vehicle is loaded with each shop's replenishment delivery to be ready for the morning.
Deliveries generally take place at 6:00 AM to ensure easy parking in downtown Bar Harbor. Using a large van, the Ram Pro-Master 3500, allows all shop merchandise to make it into town in one trip. There is a learning curve to driving a larger vehicle, as we understand this can be new for some people. Once in town, there is a route to follow for parking and delivering merchandise into each shop. This is one of the more physically demanding aspects of the position.
