Ballarat Crayfish Pty Ltd, trading as The Pancake Kitchen, is a well-established and highly regarded name in the tourism and hospitality industry. Located at 2 Grenville St S, Ballarat Central, VIC 3350, our restaurant is a favorite destination for locals and visitors alike, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere alongside exceptional dining experiences.

With a capacity to host up to 110 patrons for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, we operate seven days a week. Our hours are from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. In addition to our dine-in services, we excel in takeaway offerings and specialize in catering for a diverse array of events, including weddings, birthdays, special occasions, and various social gatherings.

The Role: We are seeking a passionate and skilled chef to join our dynamic culinary team at The Pancake Kitchen. As a chef, you will play a key role in crafting delicious, high-quality dishes that delight our guests and reflect our commitment to culinary excellence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities: Innovate menu items by introducing new ingredients and recipes. Maintain high standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient teamwork and operations. Demonstrate cooking techniques and provide culinary guidance. Prepare and cook food according to established standards. Oversee inventory management to ensure freshness and timely procurement. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and sanitation practices. Stay abreast of industry trends to contribute to menu development. Plan menus with consideration of food and labor costs for efficiency. Supervise kitchen activities, including staff performance. Monitor dish quality throughout preparation and presentation. Effectively communicate with management, dietitians, and staff regarding food preparation issues. Train and mentor kitchen staff to enhance culinary skills. Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the kitchen. Preserve foods to minimize waste.

Skills & Experience: Relevant qualification as a chef. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role. Strong customer service skills with a positive attitude and work ethic. Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Passion for the culinary arts and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences.
