About the Position: HCI is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Statutory Compliance Accountant to join the finance team. This position is responsible for ensuring full compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, maintaining accurate financial reporting, and managing tax obligations with precision. The Statutory Compliance Accountant will also play a crucial role in financial governance, audit readiness, and process improvements, driving efficiency and integrity in financial operations

Key Duties and Responsibilities: Ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory reporting requirements. Prepare and submit statutory financial reports, including BAS, FBT, GST, and payroll tax lodgments, meeting deadlines. Manage end-of-year financial reporting and support external audits. Monitor changes in financial regulations and ensure timely implementation of compliance measures. Maintain accurate financial records and reconcile statutory accounts. Support corporate governance by ensuring compliance with ASIC, ATO, and other regulatory bodies. Collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders on compliance-related matters. Develop and implement internal controls to enhance financial accuracy and mitigate risks.

Skills and Knowledge: Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards, tax laws, and corporate compliance requirements. Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple statutory deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data. Proficiency in financial reporting software and ERP systems. Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with auditors, regulators, and internal stakeholders. High level of integrity and professionalism in handling confidential financial information.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA or CA qualifications are highly desirable. Minimum 5 years of experience in statutory compliance, auditing, and corporate accounting. Prior experience in the education or healthcare industry is an added advantage.
