Who are we? Established in 1991, Danila Dilba Health Service (DDHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled organization committed to providing culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care services and community development within the Biluru (Aboriginal) community of the Yilli Rreung (Greater Darwin) Region in the Northern Territory. We work to address the social determinants of health, including the broader issues that affect our people's health, through evidence-based research and public advocacy. We also work to empower individuals, families, and communities to optimize their health.
About the role: Our medical receptionists provide high-quality customer service to our clients and administrative support to our clinical teams at Danila Dilba Health Service.
Responsibilities: Provide receptionist duties to clients presenting to Danila Dilba Health Service clinics. Provide administrative support duties for all health practitioners within the clinic, including faxing, filing, photocopying, scanning, and taking messages. Coordinate client's appointments, including booking, confirming, cancelling, and rescheduling. Coordinate booking recall lists and review and action relevant recalls. Provide receptionist duties to clients presenting to Danila Dilba Health Service clinics. Ensure the accurate and efficient collecting, recording, and updating of patient biographics in the patient information database on every occasion. Report against relevant KIPs as requested.
To be successful, you will need:
Essential: Reliable and punctual with a high level of self-motivation. Demonstrated knowledge and experience working in office administration and/or medical reception. Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and history and knowledge of issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Well-developed interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, with strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to plan, manage, and prioritize tasks. Demonstrated competency in the operation of Microsoft Office and similar software programs.
Desirable: Certificate III in Business Administration (Medical) or similar. Understanding of the Medicare Benefits schedule. Experience in working in an Aboriginal community-controlled health service or similar complex and high-risk environment. Understanding or experience in general practice accreditation and standards.
