ABOUT US: Jack and Celia Tucker own and run Rhynie Pastoral, a mixed farming enterprise at Willaura North, Western Victoria. The primary focus of the business is to produce high-quality lambs and grains, oilseeds, and legumes. We place a major focus on combining conservation and production in all the management decisions that we make.

We have a self-replacing flock of around 3,000 Dorper ewes with timed rotational grazing, multispecies perennial pastures, and low-stress stock handling as key features of our livestock enterprise. We have recently placed a large focus on reducing our paddock sizes and installing water infrastructure to support our management system and our perennial pastures and plan to continue this across our entire grazing area.

Another 1,100 ha is used for growing canola, wheat, barley, faba beans, and oats. The cropping enterprise features a modern fleet of machinery and involves zero-till farming using single disc openers. A liquid kit has been specifically designed for use of biologicals, biofertilizers, and compost extract on crops and multispecies pastures. We are looking for someone with solid sheep experience.

Position Overview: We are a small team consisting of Jack (Owner and Operations Manager), Celia (Owner and Office Manager), a full-time crop manager, as well as casual employees during busy times. Our ideal new team member is passionate about livestock and will continue to strengthen our business. Your experience and ability to successfully undertake the responsibilities of the role will enable Jack and Celia to focus more on the strategic aspects of the business's growth and development.

The successful candidate's responsibilities will include hands-on involvement in all animal husbandry tasks such as lamb marking, vaccinating, drenching, worm egg count tests, regular paddock moves as part of our timed rotational grazing system, pasture management, and associated record-keeping.

Other duties will include general paddock, building, and yard maintenance as required.

For suitable candidates, there may be an opportunity to assist with the cropping enterprise at busy times and as required by the cropping manager.

Skills and attributes: We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who shows initiative and can work effectively both within a team and independently.

This person should have: excellent planning and time-management skills, Excellent communication skills and ability to use initiative, Low-stress stockhandling training or experience would be favorable. Experience with livestock technology such as AgriWebb to assist with improving record-keeping in all parts of the business. Chemical certificate and first aid certificate or willingness to obtain. Attention to detail and orderly.
