Your new role: As a Behaviour Practitioner with JOURNEY you will be part of a passionate team dedicated to advancing the very best in evidence-based practice and innovation. Following a full and comprehensive orientation and induction, you will be supported to begin to gradually increase your client work, fulfilling all of the activities of a well-rounded practitioner. You will use a range of skills to develop and implement high-quality Behaviour Support Plans that are person-centred and can be readily applied in the person’s environment. You will work across a range of settings; seeing clients in the community, utilising our beautiful clinic rooms, visiting family homes, schools, supported accommodation and other programs. Along the way, you will be supported by your Clinical Supervisor, Allied Health Team leaders, and Clinical Director to learn and develop skills in specific areas, covering both your clinical skills and overall development as a professional.  You will also collaborate regularly with your team members to share knowledge, gain support and provide secondary consultation where required.

Some of the activities you will engage in on a day-to-day basis include: working with client presentations ranging from moderate to complex with a focus on addressing behaviours of concern, supporting goal achievement, and improving quality of life. Completing functional Behaviour assessments as well as other assessments utilising formal assessment tools and clinical interviewing. Developing evidence-based therapeutic and behavioural interventions tailored to the needs of the client and their support network. Working collaboratively with clients, families, support workers, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to develop and document person-centred and evidence-based Behaviour support plans. Supporting clients, families, and professionals to work towards the reduction of restrictive practices in line with the requirements of the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. Providing coaching to families, support staff, and others in understanding the person, their difficulties, and how to implement strategies identified. Liaising with a range of other professionals as part of a multi-disciplinary team approach, including interface with mainstream services. Facilitating case conferences with a range of professionals to promote development of a consistent approach to support and intervention.

Qualifications and Experience: Minimum postgraduate qualification in psychology, social work, Counselling, Behaviour analysis, or Behavioural science. Note Psychologists interested in hybrid psychology/Behaviour support roles can also be fully supported. Registration with NQSGC as a Behaviour Support Practitioner at Core Level. Minimum one year's experience as a Behaviour support practitioner under the NDIS. Experience working with autistic clients and/or those with mental health difficulties or intellectual disabilities. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise and work collaboratively with a range of other professionals to achieve identified goals. A high level of written and oral communication skills, including experience with report writing. A growth mindset and commitment to continued professional development. A commitment to sensitive, inclusive, and trauma-informed practices. Team spirit and desire to be part of a highly collaborative and supportive team culture.
