Responsibilities: Assign projects to subordinates and staff related to work safety, environmental safety and accident prevention. Evaluate daily operations. Plan and organize daily operations. Provide information and training to employers, employees and general public. Review HR directives to assure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations. Train staff. Establish and implement policies and procedures. Collect samples of materials for analysis. Inspect spills of hazardous chemicals or products. Oversee the classification and rating of occupations. Inspect workplaces for safety or health hazards. Plan, develop and implement recruitment strategies. Investigate workplace accidents or illnesses. Initiate enforcement procedures to fine or close an establishment. Manage training and development strategies. Oversee the analysis of employee data and information. Oversee development of communication strategies. Develop and implement health and safety plans. Ensure health and safety regulations are followed. Advise senior management. Respond to employee questions and complaints. Liaise with management, union officials and HR consultants. Negotiate collective agreements on behalf of employers or workers. Organize staff consultation and grievance procedures. Conduct performance reviews. Evaluate work environments, programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury.
