Disability Support Worker, N AND S CARE. Belmore, Sydney NSW. Aged & Disability Support (Community Services & Development). Full time. $66,000–$75,000 per year. Our Team supports people with a diverse range of needs, which includes learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, acquired brain injuries, behavioural challenges and mental health conditions, to live their lives more independently and supports them to reach their potential by providing professional, dependable support. This support service may require you to work in a clients’ home, whether that is a group home or their own private residence, in the community, or at our Belmore Centre (1A Leylands Parade, Belmore, NSW 2192) and can be delivered in varying support models ranging from 2:1, 1:1 or in a small group setting.

We are in search for enthusiastic and reliable Disability Support Workers to support participants with complex behaviours and are passionate of helping them reach their goals. Multiple Full-time Positions available!

The Role and primary duties of a Disability Support Worker include, but not limited to:

Community access: transport to appointments and/or facilitate community outings, shopping, etc.

Personal care: including showering and grooming; this may include complex bowel care and/or catheter care.

Domestic duties: including housework, meal preparation, shopping, etc.

Documentation: comprehensively documenting all services, incidents, and supports provided, making sure they align with our participants goals.

Providing support to, or fully assisting clients with the administration of their prescription medication.

Skills & Requirements: Excellent work ethic, strong oral communication, and written skills that can work both independently and as part of our friendly team, enjoy a challenge, and show initiative and problem solving. Energetic and enthusiastic individual who can see the potential in people. Has the ability to apply a person-centered approach when supporting participants in their own home and/or out in the community. Preferably, they would have a background in nursing and/or experience supporting participants with mental illness and intellectual and physical disabilities.

Essential Personal Requirements: Minimum Certificate III qualification related to disability/individual support. At least one year of relevant disability support work experience. Experience with mental health and or aged care preferred. Willing to provide personal care to both male and female participants. Experience supporting participants using aids such as wheelchairs, walking frames or hoists or a willingness to learn. Experience supporting Participants with daily living skills, food preparation and housekeeping.

Excellent communication skills: both verbal and written. Fully Covid-19 vaccinated and willing to have further vaccinations as directed by NSW Health. Must be willing to travel around Sydney as required.

Must be willing to use your own fully insured and registered vehicle to perform your role if needed.

Must be willing to accept rotating shift schedules when required: Morning shift (starting at 6am). Afternoon shift (ending after 6pm or sleepover). On call (when rostered). Rotating roster with a variety of participants. Weekend availability when required.

Licence/Certification: Valid NSW Driver’s Licence. Current First Aid and CPR certificate. NSW Working with Children’s Check (WWC). NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDISWC). Police Check (Valid if within 5 years). NDIS Orientation Certificate. New Worker NDIS Induction Module Certificate. Infection control training. Must be vaccinated for Covid-19.

Annual salary for the full-time role would be between $66,000 and $75,000. The remuneration is commensurate with qualification and experience. N & S Care Disability Support Workers are covered by the SCHADS (Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services) Industry Award.
