About the opportunity: The primary purpose of this position is working across multiple projects across Brisbane, with a key focus on Logan Lea Station Relocation project. The role will see a key focus working closely with management of environmental control on serious projects. The successful applicant will with work closely with the project teams to achieve and maintain strong environmental compliance throughout the project life cycle.
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to, working with Project Managers to achieve environmental goals and objectives. Interpretation and application of environmental planning approvals. Preparation of Construction Environmental Management Plans and sub plans. Environmental compliance tracking against planning approvals. Formal and informal reporting (internal). Assist project teams with the preparation of Environmental Controls Maps. Site inspections to assess the effectiveness of environmental controls.
Documentation of environmental management measures (photographs, videos, notes) and clearly communicating observations to the Environmental Manager. Maintenance of site environmental controls (involves physical labour). Communicate environmental constraints to the site team. Identification of potential site environmental issues and risks (present issues). Environmental risk assessment and risk control for upcoming works program (future planning). Maintain high-level awareness of upcoming construction works for each project.
Qualifications and Experience: Tertiary degree in the field of environmental engineering, environmental science, environmental law, sustainability or Trade Qualification Driver’s license. Proficiency in Microsoft suite of programs. Professional work experience in any field is preferred. Relevant work experience is not limited to full-time employment. Includes short-term placement, contract work, cadetship (not necessarily in construction). Personal Qualities. Collaborative attitude
Comfortable working across multiple teams and multiple sites. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with site teams and the environmental manager.
Willingness to ask questions and listen to inputs from others. Interested in problem-solving. Comfortable introducing and explaining new concepts to others. Keen observation and analytical skills (detail-oriented). Values integrity and carries this through to their approach to work. Independent worker that can be trusted to complete set tasks without intensive supervision. Very strong time management and prioritization skills. Flexible approach to changes in competing priorities and planned workflow. Familiarity with construction sites/site culture is beneficial. Ability to form and maintain positive relationships with clients and site team. Strong listening and communication skills with an ability to relate to people from a wide range of positions and backgrounds. Responsible attitude with an awareness of the importance of personal safety and the safety of site teams.
