About Job: Cairns Local Farmers Market is looking for a dedicated and hardworking individual to join our team as a Fruit and Veg Assistant. This role involves managing fresh produce, heavy lifting, setting up and closing the produce section of the shop, and managing daily loads (packing produce, restocking shelves, etc).

Duties and Responsibilities: Receive, prepare for sale and display of fruit and vegetables. Fill and face fruit and vegetable shelves and tables. Quality check stock items; remove and /or discard perished or damaged stock from displays. All work areas to be left in a clean, tidy and hazard-free manner prior to shift ceasing daily. Provide information, advice and support to customers. Maintain clean floors, fixturesand fittings. Identify food and work health and safety hazards and report them immediately to the Fruit and Vegetable Manager. Other duties as directed by the Fruit and Vegetable Manager

Requirements: Forklift license preferred, but not necessary. Prior similar experience not required but will add bonus points; training will be given for freshmen. Familiarity of various Fruit and vegetables. Strong work ethic and positive attitude. Ability to handle heavy loads regularly. Reliability and punctuality. Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
