About this role: The overarching function of an accountant is to assist and support our team in managing day-to-day business bookkeeping and invoices. An accountant or bookkeeper can also support NDIS participants by: Managing and monitoring a participant’s budget. Managing a participant’s NDIS claims and disbursing funds to providers for services delivered. Providing regular statements to a participant to show the financial status of their plan, including prompt notification of over- or under-utilisation. Offering increased choice and control to a participant over plan implementation and utilisation through additional plan financial assistance.
There are two types of services that a plan management provider can provide, including: The financial administration of a participant’s plan. Plan and financial management capacity-building supports.

A genuine focus and passion for disability services, and the following skills and knowledge: Effective communication skills include the ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and respectfully with consumers, families, colleagues, other agency personnel, and external stakeholders. Strong written communication to deliver effective plans and reporting in an NDIS environment. Experience supporting people with disabilities. Excellent attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to plan, organise, and manage daily tasks. Experience providing services to people and children with disabilities with complex needs. Minimum Certificate IV in Accounting or Bookkeeping: Registration as an accountant or bookkeeper is essential.
Satisfactory completion of safety screening, including a national police check, an international police check (if required), a current WA Working with Children check, and completion of the worker screen requirement. First Aid Certificate.
Duties: As an accountant, you will review all available documentation and meet with participants and/or their families, carers, support persons, and existing providers and/or services to implement NDIS plans. Connect with participants, their nominees and carers, service providers, support coordinators, and other nominated people as required for plan development and implementation of NDIS funding. Process invoices and undertake bookkeeping tasks. Monitor and provide reports to NDIS planners and participants. Liaise with service providers to ensure the participant's NDIS plans are implemented and monitored as agreed. Work collaboratively with participants, their nominees, service providers, the community, and mainstream support to ensure improved quality of life outcomes for NDIS participants. Work collaboratively with fellow team members, sharing and developing specialised knowledge in areas of expertise.
Monitor and manage your caseload, ensuring plans and plan development and implementation monitoring activities are up-to-date. Contribute to quality improvement that enhances service delivery practices, processes, and systems that contribute to improved service quality for NDIS participants. Ensure high-quality record-keeping, including competency with IT systems. Perform other duties and responsibilities as directed by the manager or delegate.
