About the Role: With our ongoing success in securing exciting projects with both new and long-standing valued clients and our continued collaborations with trusted subcontractors, we are seeking part-time in-house legal counsel. This role will work closely with the CEO and the Project Management Office, playing a pivotal role in managing the commercial aspects of our business and ensuring that our projects run smoothly and efficiently.

Key responsibilities: reviewing, assessing, and providing advice on legal risks associated with contracts, tenders, and pre-contractual documentation to ensure commercially acceptable terms and reduced risk. Review and negotiate client contracts, including those for large infrastructure and other exciting projects, as well as sub-consultancy agreements. Support the resolution of contractual issues that arise on projects during delivery. Advising on relevant legislation and regulations and providing advice and assistance to the business and operations.

Supporting the Chief Executive Officer in managing risk and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and legislation. Preparing internal legal papers for the senior leadership team and board and managing external legal advisers as required. Advising project teams throughout the lifecycle of projects on interpretation and contract administration issues, including strategies for dealing with delays, cost overruns, and unexpected events. Provide general legal advice to key stakeholders. Offer guidance to technical staff on contract administration. Develop relationships across all levels of the business.

About You To succeed in this role, you will have a tertiary qualification in law. Relevant industry in-house legal experience within a construction and/or consulting services business is desirable but not mandatory. Extensive experience in contract review and negotiation. a proven track record of delivering high-quality legal services and advice. Demonstrated ability to exercise high-level professional judgement in complex and sensitive matters. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
