Lead Software Engineer, Paxus, Canberra, ACT. Engineering: Software (Information & Communication Technology). Contract/Temp. Great hourly rate! Engineering Lead/Lead Software Development Engineer. We are seeking an experienced engineering lead to join the Congestion Busting Program team. As the Engineering Lead, you will collaborate closely with the Branch Architect Lead to drive software engineering practices and foster a culture of quality and efficiency across our multi-disciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities: Establish and nurture a cohesive software engineering community across all teams. Provide hands-on coaching to enhance engineering practices, including automation testing, ITSM processes, and resilient engineering. Promote knowledge sharing and standardization of technology choices and code across product teams. Identify and resolve blockers hindering development and scaling efforts. Contribute to technical team recruitment and departmental growth. Champion and drive adoption of new engineering practices within a diverse developer community.
Skills & Experience: Proven track record in technical leadership within large enterprise environments. Strong stakeholder management skills across various levels of seniority. I have extensive experience coaching developers to deliver exceptional work consistently. Expertise in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and performance measurement. Proficiency in automation testing, test-driven development, React.js, Node.js, Express.js, Microsoft Azure, and web security practices. Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical audiences. Understanding of resilient, maintainable, and scalable web application development patterns.
Essential Criteria: Demonstrated experience in influencing and improving engineering practices across multiple teams. Proven track record in guiding strategies for test automation, DevOps, and reliable engineering. Experience in enhancing engineering performance and transitioning from project-based to sustainment-focused development. Ability to foster a collaborative developer community.
Desirable Criteria: Experience with TypeScript, MS SQL, ORMs (e.g., Prisma), and advocating for developer tools. Background in developing contemporary resilient, maintainable, and scalable web applications.
