About Our Organization: Slade Grain Pty Ltd is a progressive cropping operation farming on Southern Yorke Peninsula. Our cropping program consists of wheat, barley, canola and lentils. We utilise the latest technology and infrastructure to ensure our operation is efficient, sustainable, and enjoyable. We support ongoing training, development, and upskilling and offer flexible working arrangements. Ideally, you are looking to move into a senior role within our farming operation over the course of time.

The Opportunity: We are seeking an immediate start for an enthusiastic and self-motivated team member to assist with all aspects of our farm operations, including, but not limited to: grain and fertiliser carting, weed and pest management, seeding, harvest operations and general machinery maintenance. The successful candidate will be involved in upgrading our operations to improve yields, soil quality and farm processes. The successful candidate will also be involved in the maintenance and upkeep of the farm and farming machinery, as well as meeting safety requirements and standards. We require a commitment of about 40 hours per week, with the ability to be flexible and work long hours during our busy times of April and May and November and December.

You have: some previous experience in farming, with familiarity of current farming practices and understanding of GPS technology, an MC licence, or possess an HC licence and are willing to upgrade to an MC license; a Chem Certificate, or a willingness to obtain a Chem Certificate, strong communication skills and a cheerful disposition, an aptitude for mechanics and welding, providing solutions to problems; and good record-keeping skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

In addition: You enjoy the opportunity to undertake responsibilities in a timely manner without continued supervision, using your initiative where possible but seeking assistance where necessary and essential. You understand and respect operating procedures, but you also like to share ideas for improvement. You also enjoy preventative maintenance and care for machinery.

The Offer: Our successful candidate will be offered a permanent full-time position at a competitive salary commensurate with skills & experience, 4 weeks paid holidays, paid public holidays, use of farm vehicle both on and off the farm, including fuel, accommodation if required, and a relocation package if required.

The location is the Southern Yorke Peninsula, South Australia. The local area offers not only one of the best beaches in Australia but also access to 4 schools, 2 of which are private. There are 2 sporting clubs which offer football, netball, tennis, cricket amongst other sports, dance schools, soccer, hockey and swimming. There is a doctor’s surgery, local hospital, dentists, physio, chiro, hairdressers’ supermarkets and speciality shops, with Adelaide an easy 2-hour drive away. There is an array of water activities available during the summer months, as well as camping and fishing all year round. We have reliable internet access with professional, local and remote work opportunities for a partner or spouse.
