About us: An exciting opportunity to join a 25-year-established, stable and fast-growing Renewable & Utility Engineering Company. The role will enable you to work on some of the nation’s most exciting decarburization projects in the role of Technical Director of HV Substation Design. APD has 15 offices across New Zealand and the largest onshore workforce in Australia. The successful applicant will have strong experience in HV Design and relationships with power utilities.
About the role: As part of our growing ANZ business, APD has an opportunity for a Technical Director – Substation Design to join our team. In this role, you will play an integral part in developing solutions for our Network Service Provider Clients and Renewable Energy Development Clients. Your strong technical background will allow you to drive the delivery of large-scale substation projects.
Responsibilities include: Successful delivery of substation projects, including design management and team technical management. Client relationship management. Technical oversight and leadership, including multidisciplinary coordination and optimisation, project quality assurance and risk management. Demonstrate design innovation and cost optimization as part of the design process.
What can you bring to the team?
You will share our genuine passion for engineering and be someone who actively pursues continuous learning to help shape the future. You will also need: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 15 + years of relevant work experience in the power field. Demonstrated experience in managing the delivery of complex projects across multiple substation design disciplines. Excellent communication skills with a strong focus on client management. Understanding of technical design standards and industry best practices and demonstrating experience in the design and delivery of large-scale substation projects
