TMS is a noninvasive form of brain stimulation that involves the focused application of magnetic energy to specific regions of the brain, thus inducing small electromagnetic currents. This treatment can be used to treat depression and other psychiatric disorders. In treating depression, TMS may be used when patients have not responded to antidepressant medications, have unacceptable side effects to medications or would prefer to try another treatment option. This treatment can be provided either on inpatient or outpatient basis.
Northpark is one of the only homes in Victoria of the Neurosoft TMS machine with the advanced Neural Navigator Essentials system that uses MRI mapping to locate the Dorsolateral Prefrontal Cortex of the brain more effectively hence improving the efficacy of the treatment.
