Calling for any current students of Animal Technology – we have a perfect opportunity for any students in the latter part of their course to work as a casual Animal Technician with us at the Monash Health Translational Precinct (MHTP) Animal Facility at Hudson Institute of Medical Research, Australia's leading Medical Research Institute:

The Casual Animal Technician will assist with the general care and maintenance of various laboratory species in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).  If you are interested in providing the best level of animal care and optimum animal welfare conditions, then this is the job for you.

This role comes with full hands-on training and working days and hours can be negotiated

The casual Animal Technician has a direct line report to the Conventional Supervisor as well as the Animal Facility Manager.  It is expected that all staff play a role in maintaining close working relationships with the entire MHTP AF team.

Selection Criteria The role will suit someone who is: Experienced working with laboratory species is an advantage – but on-the-job training will be provided. Ethical and compliance-oriented thinker with a passion for animal welfare. Highly collaborative and team orientated

Qualifications desired: Working on the completion or near completion of an Associate Diploma of Applied Science (Animal Technology); or a combination of relevant knowledge, training and or / experience preferably in the animal / biomedical research industry. We can be flexible for the right candidate.

Your responsibilities include: Demonstrated achievement in working with different laboratory species. Knowledge of relevant legislations. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to work as part of a team or independently. Self-motivated. Employment Terms. This position is a casual appointment and salary is based on Scientific Support Group range of Tap 3 - dependent on experience. Superannuation of 11% and very attractive salary packaging options are available.
