Auckland Zoo is a not-for-profit wildlife conservation science organisation, dedicated to bringing people together to build a future for wildlife. This role will bring people together to build a future for wildlife through the delivery of a range of conservation advocacy and engagement programmes and events.
The Conservation Learning Facilitator will assist in the development, delivery and evaluation of a range of conservation learning programmes to schools and other educational groups onsite, offsite and online that drive impactful conservation and social outcomes. In addition, they will assist in the delivery of other conservation advocacy and engagement programmes and events to diverse audiences as required.
This dynamic role reports to the Duty Operations Manager and will work with a team of Conservation Learning Facilitators. Note that this role includes some evening and weekend work, which may include public holidays as required to deliver the conservation learning portfolio. The position shall be required to support and work flexibly across all other conservation learning teams.

Qualifications: Degree in a science, psychological, education or other relevant field or equivalent relevant experience. Current NZ teacher registration desirable. Experience/Skills. Proven knowledge and experience in implementing the New Zealand Curriculum or equivalent educational curricula desirable. Minimum of two years school or other educational teaching experience or equivalent environmental/conservation education experience. Proven experience in delivering environmental or conservation education to diverse audiences. Experience in developing, delivering and evaluating outcome- based learning programmes and activities.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills of pedagogical and engagement techniques for diverse audiences
Knowledge of the New Zealand curriculum and other relevant education standards, policies and learning frameworks
Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills
Effective time management and ability to prioritise
Sound knowledge and commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi and M?ori environmental and educational principles.
Understanding of, and commitment to, wildlife conservation and environmental sustainability and the objectives of modern zoos
Please note: The role is 24 hours per week. This role requires flexible working, including some evening and weekend work, which may include public holidays as required to manage and deliver the role's portfolio. The position shall support and work flexibly across all other conservation advocacy and engagement teams as required.
