M? te T?ranga | About the Role
The Assistant Accountant plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with policies, and helping to ensure the finance system and processes support a strong control environment. This position involves collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, providing technical accounting advice, and contributing to key government budget requirements and CFISnet submissions. The Assistant Accountant also supports the implementation of financial management systems and assists with external audits.
The ideal candidate will be a strong team player who has: experience in government accounting; proactive risk management and problem solving skills; a high level of accuracy and attention to detail; excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate and contribute at team level; and a commitment to continuous improvement.
