About the Role The School of Culture and Communication (SCC) is inviting applications for a Subject Coordinator in the Journalism program. In this role, you will oversee and teach the Video Journalism (JOUR90008) Winter intensive offering, stepping in as a temporary replacement for the substantive coordinator.

Reporting directly to the Head of Program, you will be responsible for coordinating all teaching activities, including lectures, tutorials, and seminars, while ensuring compliance with Faculty policies. Your duties will encompass administrative tasks related to subject delivery and assessment, as well as the development of teaching materials for the subject. Adopting a student-centric approach will be integral to your success in this position, ensuring an enriching and inclusive learning environment for all.

This position presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the ongoing excellence of the Journalism program at SCC while gaining valuable experience in subject coordination and delivery. Join our dynamic team and play a key role in shaping the educational experiences of our students in the field of Video Journalism.

Your responsibilities will include: Undertake subject coordination duties including the maintenance of Learning Management System (LMS) sites and subject guides. Prepare assessments in accordance with subject guidelines in the University Handbook and coordinate assessment?processes, managing assessment extension requests as required. Undertake?consultation with?students. Manage breaches of academic integrity. Participate in meetings as required by?the Head of Program?and the School, including examination board meetings following completion of marking each semester. Prepare and conduct lectures,?seminars, and tutorials?in the required mode (eg.?online,?on campus,?blended)?to a high standard.

Effectively and efficiently communicate with students via LMS and address frequently asked questions in?relation to classes?and?assessment. Mark assessment,?provide timely feedback to students and record results into the appropriate results record?system. Who We Are Looking For We are seeking a committed and engaging educator with experience of teaching at tertiary level, with a commitment to inclusivity in student learning, and the ability to work collaboratively with students.

You will possess extensive organisational skills as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills including a demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. You will also have: Completion of a Doctoral or Master qualification in the relevant discipline or equivalent relevant academic or professional or practice-based experience and expertise. Demonstrated experience in teaching delivery. Demonstrated experience and expertise in the field of video journalism. Experience in supervising, coaching and supporting staff and fostering an effective teaching?team. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the learning orientations of a diverse student cohort, combined with the ability to apply this knowledge and understanding to create inclusive learning environments. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively, work collaboratively, administer multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines successfully
