Apprentice fitter, sprinkler systems (4th Year Service Truck Apprentice)
Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time, On Call, Day
Salary: $19.00 to $23.00 Hourly for 40 hours per week
Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible

Skill Requirements:
Education: Completion of high school, Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): 4th Period Apprentice, WHMIS, Driver's License
Experience: 5 years or more
Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English
Major Work Area: Construction, Maintenance, Repair, Service
Type of Establishment/Work Setting Experience: Commercial, Industrial
Area of Steamfitting and Pipefitting Specialization: Fire protection systems
Pipefitting / Steamfitting Testing Methods: Visual, Hydrostatic, Performance
Area of Sprinkler System Installer Specializations: Wet and dry pipe, Pre-action and deluge, Water supplies and hydrants, Alarms and alarm devices, Control valves, Drain valves, Quick-opening equipment, Fire hose connections
Sprinkler System Maintenance and Repair Activities: Test operation of sprinkler systems, Test auxiliary equipment, Perform inspections, Service and repair sprinkler system components
Type of Piping: Black carbon or steel, Copper, Stainless steel
Specific Skills: Determine layout requirements, Cut openings for pipes in walls, ceilings or floors, Select type and size of pipe, Measure, cut, thread and bend pipes to required shape and size, Test system for leaks, Remove and replace defective components, Install clamps, brackets and hangers to support piping and sprinkling systems, Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment, Erect scaffolding, ladders, lifts and other temporary work platforms, Operate power lifts, Troubleshoot systems
Additional Skills: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications
Security and Safety: Bondable, Basic security clearance, Drug test, Driver's validity license check
