Summary: The General Worker is responsible for the general maintenance of the grounds and gardens by executing numerous gardening duties, requiring a minimum amount of supervision.

Duties And Responsibilities: Soil cultivation, digging, forking, mulching, watering, raking, weeding, edging, pruning, bed preparation and planting. Tree maintenance. Lawn maintenance and cultivation. Watering of plants. The use and maintenance of hand tools, basic light machinery and vehicles. The use of cylinder and rotary mowers, trimmers, leaf blowers, chain saws etc. Adjustment of mower height and quality of cut etc. Oil level checks and checks for any damage to mower. To ensure all equipment, machinery and buildings are secure. To keep the tool sheds and chemical room clean and tidy. To keep the borders, thoroughfares, footpaths and roads clear and free from litter/oil marks at all times. To empty recycling bins around the premises. Prepare and plant flower beds, herbaceous borders and shrubberies.

Understand and ensure the implementation of the farm’s Health & Safety policy, and emergency fire procedures. Report any faulty or damaged equipment or any potential hazard. Promote safe working practices. Ensure a safe working environment.
