Head Chef, Gansbaai, Overberg. Company Name: Sommelier and Company. This is the ideal live-in position for a chef looking to move to a quiet seaside village. We are looking for the right candidate to manage our bakery, wine bar, and food truck while being based at our main restaurant in the scenic De Kelders neighbourhood of Gansbaai.
The envisioned restaurant menu is simple, concise and prepared with locally sourced ingredients focusing on flavour rather than fancy cooking techniques. But, we’re open to design a menu around our chef. Therefore, the successful candidate will have demonstrable kitchen management experience with a keen eye for quality control and stock management.
Duties will include but are not limited to overseeing all food production operations from a quality control and stock management perspective. Prep cooking for various outlets, line cooking at the restaurant and human resources. Experience in sourdough bread making, Neapolitan-style pizza and patisserie would be highly advantageous but not essential. Remuneration will be based on experience with the option of a sea view apartment on site as part of the package.
