Great team in a Cape Town asset manager seeks an Investment Guidelines Specialist (Trade Support). This role sits within Institutional Operations and is accountable for first-line global investment compliance and monitoring.

The team is responsible for identifying, analysing, and managing investment risk across group-wide client portfolios and investments, and provides compliance guidance and support to the company’s investment related functions, including Portfolio Managers and Traders. In essence, operationalising pre- and post-trade controls, including coding mandate and regulatory portfolio restrictions and investment guidelines in the company’s compliance monitoring system (Charles River IMS) and performing End of Day post-trade portfolio compliance monitoring for all managed funds globally.

Qualifications and experience required: Degree in Commerce or IT. CFA (or studying towards qualification). Strong academic track record. 8+ years' experience, with at least 5 investment management. Charles River IMS - experience in portfolio compliance monitoring and rule coding. Strong instrument knowledge of equities, fixed income and derivatives. Good understanding of portfolio monitoring processes, including interpretation of client investment management agreements.

Good working knowledge of regulatory requirements applicable to asset managers and funds. Have a high attention to detail. Highly analytical, and naturally curious, with the ability to challenge within the team. Logical, and able to make reasonable and well thought through decisions.
