Skill Requirements:
Education: Completion of high school
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Carpenter Trade Certification
Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years
Major Work Area: Construction, Maintenance/repair, Renovation
Type of Establishment/Work Setting Experience: Commercial, Industrial, Residential
Area of Specialization: Finish carpentry, Hardwood flooring, Form work
Specific Skills: Determine specifications and calculate requirements, Prepare layouts, Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join mouldings, wood materials, drywall and plastics materials, Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware, Build floor beams and subflooring, Install fire doors, Install floor tiles or rolled flooring, Build and install platforms, scaffolding, ramps and ladders, Operate power tools
Additional Skills: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications, Estimate labour and material costs, Survey building locations and levels, Instruct apprentices, Supervise other workers
Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots, Hard hat
Work Site Environment: At heights, Noisy, Dusty
Transportation/Travel Information: Willing to travel, Willing to travel regularly
