The Mi’gmawei Mawiomi Secretariat (MMS) is seeking to hire a Communication Liaison Officer (CLO). Working in a multigenerational environment, the successful candidate will support MMS in its overall communication activities. The CLO will further direct and support the promotion of MMS’s vision, brand identity and public image.
Purpose: Reporting to the Executive Director, the CLO will support and further develop and implement proactive, effective and holistic communications for the purpose of keeping MMS citizens aware, informed and engaged in the work, goals, plans and status of MMS mandates and files. In addition, the CLO will manage and lead the publishing process for MMS publications.
Role & Responsibilities:
Working with the three member communities, their leadership and membership, and in accordance with and in respect of relevant local practices and situations, the CLO will gather, synthesize, generate, distribute and publish information along the most effective communications mediums.
The CLO will be responsible (as per work plans, goals, requests and supervisory direction) to:
Actively participate in the development and implementation of MMS goals and ensuing strategies that are in support of the vision.
Manage and lead the development and implementation of communications strategies, objectives and plans.
Gather necessary information via the most appropriate means (e.g. interviews, research, etc.).
Attend, as required, meetings, public events, ceremonies, etc., as a means of gathering information.
Conduct research, as required, maintain databank of relevant MMS information
Maintain and monitor database of information sources and statistical information for the purposes of planning and reporting.
Organize, recall, and reformulate information as required and according to local practices and protocols.
Ensure core message(s) is (are) clearly expressed/understood.
Provide, as required, accurate information to counter misinformation and/or misrepresentation.
Prioritize information for distribution purposes.
Organize, compose, edit and design written materials for print and presentation purposes, utilizing storyboard techniques, as required.
Promote and cultivate a “one-voice” approach to written and distributed content.
Ensure appropriate branding of MMS identity throughout mediums.
Draft and write updates, news releases, member bulletins, brochures and other materials.
Maintain website content; ensure information is relevant and updated as needed.
Provide designated persons, leadership and supervisors with appropriate information as required (e.g. briefing notes, talking points, fact sheets, etc.).
Manage and serve as team leader and chief editor for the publication and distribution of the Gespisiq, according to fixed schedules.
Publish other documents, reports, etc., as required.
As requested, assist with various special projects
Prepare quarterly and annual reports to present to supervisors, leadership and member communities as required.
Perform other duties as required
REQUIREMENTS
A university degree or combination of a college diploma and directly related experience in public relations, communications, journalism. Any relatable discipline and/or experience may also be considered.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum three (3) years communications or public relations experience.
