Recreation Program Leader (After School Program Leader)
Terms of Employment: Permanent, Part Time, Day, Evening
Salary: $10.40 Hourly for 20 hours per week, Other Benefits
Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible
Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia (6 vacancies )
Skill Requirements:
Education: Some high school, Some college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training, Some university
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): First Aid Certificate
Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years
Type of Clients: Children, Adolescents, Persons with physical disabilities
Work Setting: Community centre
Activity Focus: Leading/instructing individuals, Leading/instructing groups, Patrolling/supervising activities
Specific Skills: Demonstrate and instruct athletic, fitness or sports activities and techniques, Instruct groups and individuals in arts and crafts, Lead groups and individuals in recreational or leisure programs, Plan and carry out recreational activities, Attend to clients with special needs, Enforce safety rules and regulations, Understand principles of group dynamics, Mediate disputes
Additional Skills: Provide emergency or first aid assistance, Keep logs and maintain records
Security and Safety: Bondable, Criminal record check, Child abuse registry check
Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation, Public transportation is available
Ability to Supervise: 11-15 people
Work Site Environment: Outdoors, In/on water, Noisy
