IT System Administrator Contract, Other, Cape Town. Our client based in Century City is recruiting for a skilled and experienced IT Desktop Engineer to join their IT support team on a 6 monthly Fixed Term Project Contract.
Requirements: Grade 12, minimum, A+, N+, MCSE. ITIL Foundation and Security (advantageous) SQL Administration VMWARE VEEAM Experience (Certification would be advantageous) 3 - 4 years Server Administration.
Cyber security certifications or experience: End-user helpdesk and desktop support experience essential. Computer literacy is essential with a passion for technology and problem-solving. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential (written, verbal, and presentation).
Additional required Skills and Experience: Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN), and patch management Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data Backup / Recovery Have a strong grasp of computer security (e.g. firewalls and intrusion detection systems) Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms Minimum 3 years technical support Matric, Microsoft Certified Professional, MCSE.
Key responsibilities may include but are not limited to Configuring hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements Performance on daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups Regular security monitoring will be done in order to identify any possible intrusions Installation of new and rebuilding of existing servers while maintaining installation and configuration procedures Researching and recommending innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks You will identify approaches that leverage the company's resources and provide economies of scale Repair and recover from hardware or software failures and coordination and communication with impacted business units and escalate where necessary Applying OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrading administrative tools and utilities Configure / add new services as necessary Performing periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning Maintenance of data centre environmental and monitoring of equipment
Key Performance Areas: Provide first-level user support for all hardware and software requests logged via helpdesk. Provide the first point of contact for a variety of IT management requirements and administration. Work closely with IT Front office and Back office teams and IT managers to develop and enhance the quality of service and reporting processes. Ensure that all the tickets on the helpdesk are processed within the predetermined SLA times.
