E-Commerce Manager - Cape Town. International Retailer with head office in Cape Town is seeking to employ an E-Commerce Manager. The purpose of this role is to build and develop a management set of core competencies that will serve the digital marketing requirements of the business, enabling sustainable business development of online channels and brand equity growth within the digital marketing space.
The E-Commerce Manager is accountable for partnering with brand stakeholders in building digital strategies and assets for all online platforms in line with marketing strategies; as well as taking on a consulting role within the business for operational plans and business development opportunities within online retail (e-retail, brand sites, pure players). The incumbent will work cross-functionally to drive digital transformation and ensure that brands are portrayed consistently and in line with corporate and brand standards across all digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities: Digital Strategies, Plans & Innovation. Translate business and brand objectives into a digital strategy. Partner with Marketing to create, develop and coordinate (by brand) an online/digital marketing strategy. Support Sales teams with an operational plan and recommendations to drive new channel development; building business cases to grow online distribution channels.
Ensure digital marketing informs and supports the development of all brand-building, promotional, and campaign activities. Analysis of digital brand strategies and performance and make recommendations as needed. Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) across all digital platforms. Drive digital innovation to enable the business to evolve with the requirements of internal and external stakeholders. Responsible to drive the digital agenda as per international guidelines.
Provide online trends, key insights, analysis, and reporting of digital trends, both locally and internationally. Provide competitor information, analysis, key insights, and recommendations. Manage agency collaboration and planning. Effectively manage the company website to ensure it is current, functional, optimized, and represents all brands effectively, in line with international guidelines.
Digital Channel and Platform Management: Manage and drive growth for e-Shop in close collaboration with the Retail team. Enhance the consumer brand experience across all platforms. Adapt global strategies to the local environment while fully adhering to international playbooks and guidelines. In partnership with Sales teams, manage online launches and events with online retail partners in terms of planning, execution, maintenance, and reporting.
Brand Management: Development of 3+ year marketing vision and plan for assigned brands. Translation of international guidelines into local brand strategy. Development and implementation of smart A&P plan while protecting brand profitability. Collaborate with all internal and external stakeholders. Management of brand P&L’s and budgets, taking ownership of growth and profit targets. Evaluate and develop product and marketing initiatives based on insights and market analysis. Presentations to key stakeholders internally and externally. Assist line manager with projects.
Requirements: BComm Degree or suitable tertiary qualification. Previous experience in a Digital Marketing role within the FMCG environment (min. 3 years). Proven Brand Management experience. Advanced knowledge of digital channels and retailing (analytics, statistics, ROI, SEO). Digital media (paid & organic) and digital performance marketing. E-commerce management (experience in enabling sales on online retailers from pure players to e-retail etc).
Understanding of site design principles, functionality, back-end system integration, etc. Knowledge of eCommerce End-to-End Solutions and SMM Platforms will be preferred (Magento, Selligent, Socialbakers). Excellent interpersonal skills, able to build relationships and influence at all levels – internal and external. Advanced Microsoft Office skills, proficiency in market data tools (IRI). Strong presentation skills. Confident, assertive self-starter with a drive for results and highly motivated.
High level of initiative, able to drive projects independently. Structured with organizational skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Salary - Competitive package.
