Education and Training Level: The electrician we are looking for needs to be registered with the Electrical Contractors Association of South Africa for both single and three-phase and to have had experience in Solar PV installations. Work Experience 5+ years.

Responsibilities: We are looking for an electrician with Solar PV expertise to install and maintain electrical equipment and wiring that connects the solar energy system to the electrical grid in residential and commercial projects. Tasks may include Site visits to consult with clients, engineers, builders, architects to establish client needs; Designing installations in accordance with client specifications and, or requirements using relevant software; Connecting solar panels and inverters and other high-voltage equipment to the building’s power supply; Assemble, install, test and maintain PV-related electrical, electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus and mounting to the highest standard; Test PV electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring to ensure compatibility and safety; Plan layout and installation of PV-related electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes; Splitting of essential and nonessential circuits for battery back up installation including fault find of mixed neutrals.

Understanding and where possible online fault fixing of systems via their online portals. Inverters include Victron, Fronius, SMA, Goodwe, Huawei, and others. Dealing with clients over the phone as soon as there are issues with inverter systems. Project manage the installation process and team to achieve the best outcomes. Do Daily checkups of installed systems on the online portals and see how they are performing and resolve any system issues.

Skills: Troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of specific PV equipment; Judgment and decision making; Operation monitoring; Quality control analysis; Management of personnel and resources; Physical dexterity.

Requirements: Driver’s license; relevant qualifications.
