Description
CITYarts, a 45-year-old public art non-profit organization in Soho, is looking for a dedicated, hard-working, organized and creative individual for the position of Assistant to the Director. The applicant must be deeply committed to non-profit arts administration and art education with a passion for CITYarts’ mission to bring youth and professional artists together to create public art, a creative process that empowers youth and connects children locally and around the world to become active participants in transforming communities. A career goal of growing in the field of non-profit arts administration is key – this full-time job has the potential for growth and a 3 year commitment expectation. The required start date is February 3rd, 2014.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist the Director with her daily appointments and plans
• Office management and clerical support during regular office hours of 9:30-5:30pm M-F
• Development and fundraising – foundation research, write grants, process donations, act as liaison between CITYarts and donors
• Public relations and press outreach
• Special event and exhibition coordination
• Coordination and supervision of interns and staff
• Manage budgets and the office calendars
• Collaborate with Project Coordinator to plan and execute projects
QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum of 2 years experience in administration and project management
• Master’s Degree in Arts Administration, Non-profit Management, or similar field is a plus
• Commitment to a career in arts non-profit management
• Ability to handle multiple tasks thoroughly and efficiently
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Organizational skills with attention to detail
• Prior fundraising and experience is a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Access)
• Outstanding interpersonal skills, including a desire to learn; the ability to be flexible and proactive; and the ability to accept direction and work independently
SALARY AND BENEFITS
• Starting salary at $32,000 annually, some flexibility depending on experience
• Health insurance benefits will be considered on an individual basis
• Two weeks vacation
