Skill Requirements:
Education: Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Machinist Trade Certification, 3rd Period Apprentice, 4th Period Apprentice, Machinist Red Seal Endorsment
Experience: 5 years or more
Work Setting: General manufacturing
Type of Machine Experience: Conventional, Computer Numerical Control (CNC)
Machining Tools and Machines: Automatic lathes, Boring machines, Broaching machines, CNC machines, Drill presses, Lapping machines, Milling machines, Sawing machines, Surface grinders, Tool grinders
Measuring Tools: Micrometers, Callipers, Gauges
Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
Specific Skills: Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables, Program computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools, Repair machine tools and parts, Set up and adjust production machinery, Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance, Verify dimensions of machined tools and parts using precision measuring instruments, Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments, Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances, Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports
